ANTHRAX Change Title Of Upcoming CD

September 16, 2004

ANTHRAX have changed the title of their upcoming collection of Joey Belladonna/Neil Turbin-era songs performed by the band's current lineup to "The Greater of Two Evils" from the previously announced "Metallum Maximum Aeturnum". "What, no one speaks Latin any more?" ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian joked in a posting on the band's official web site.

With regards to the upcoming CD, Scott wrote, "I heard the first ten mixes over the weekend and I am excited. These songs sound great. There's so much energy on this record. Busting the tracks out live in two days was definitely the way to do it. What's crazy is when I listen to it it's like I'm listening to it from outside the band because it's all these old songs that we haven't played so much over the years and I really only know the studio versions so when I hear John [Bush] singing them, it's like I get to here it from your point of view, if that makes any sense. And let me tell ya, John is killing on this. It's being mastered on Wednesday [Sept. 15] and the release dates are November 8 in Europe and November 23 in the U.S. Japan is a week before Europe. I'll find out when Australia gets it. I haven't forgotten how great Australia was this year. The cover art is by Obey, www.obeygiant.com, and it's really sharp. Very striking."

ANTHRAX will be teaming up with DIO and FIREBALL MINISTRY for a U.S. tour beginning on September 29 in Hartford, CT. "This will be the last run of dates for a while," Ian revealed. "John's wife Tori is due first week of November and we'll be working on new material so we can get a new record out next year. I know it's disappointing that we still have not gotten to the Northwest. It's lame and I apologize but it's been out of our hands. These dates coming up end in Ft. Lauderdale. I wish we were doing the whole tour but we can't because John's gonna be a dad. You have to respect that. We still might get to San Francisco. There's a chance we will do the last three shows in S.F., L.A. and Vegas over Halloween weekend. I hope we do. Get your ass down to what is sire to be the most metal night of the year. I want to see ANTHRAX fans representing. No excuse, get up and get out to the shows. The first gig at the Northern Lights in Clifton Park NY is a headline warm-up show. Last time there was killer so let's top it. I'm really excited about playing the Beacon in NYC, The last time we played there was in 1987 on the 'Among the Living' tour. It's a great place to see shows and it feels good to be playing a big venue in NYC. I think these shows will be sick. Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit, you know what’s up!!!!"
